Default Seagate Products' new shark cartilage product

Benefits: If you have achy joints, then you should be taking shark cartilage. Whether from normal wear and tear or from other causes, shark cartilage can give you some relief.

Suggested use: An average-sized adult, take 3 capsules 3X per day, with or without meals. Once you begin to feel some relief, slowly reduce the amount of capsules per day. For most people, it is common that shark cartilage use can be discontinued after 6 months. Others may need to stay on the product for longer periods or may need to be taking up to 15 capsules/day. This requires a little bit of experimentation since people are all very different.

History: There is probably no other category of products in the health food industry that has ever suffered as much as shark cartilage from the charlatans, thieves, and quackery that inhabited this industry. Shark Cartilage entered into the spotlight in 1993 when Mike Wallace did a special on 60 Minutes about its use as a cancer treatment in Cuban hospitals at the same time that a book appeared claiming that sharks dont get cancer. The Cuban story was later dismissed as mostly a fabrication. The book was linked to promoting a single manufacturer of shark cartilage who was selling their product as a cancer cure, arthritis cure, and diabetes cure among other diseases and was later sued, fined and shut down by the FDA.

All of this publicity unleashed a wave of new shark cartilage manufacturers popping up claiming their product was the best, most potent, and most effective while trying to ride the wave of publicity and excitement. Unfortunately, most of these manufacturers really did not produce their own shark cartilage and were surprised to find out that the product they had in their bottles was so cut with fillers that there wasnt even a hint of a fishy smell or taste or even shark cartilage.

Seagate began to process shark cartilage in 1993 because it was then a byproduct of their fishing and fish-processing operations. Previously, the cartilage was thrown away. By the year 2000, Seagate discontinued shark fishing. The decision was made because the shark meat was testing high for levels of mercury. The shark fishery along the northern Pacific coast of Baja California however continues to be a healthy but small fishery, with no endangered or threatened shark species.

Processing: In 1993, Seagate added freeze-dryers and cryogenic grinders to their Ensenada factory in order to produce the highest quality product. The meat is mechanically separated from the cartilage using high-speed brushes. The cartilage is then freeze-dried in a specially constructed high vacuum rotary chamber where the moisture in the cartilage is evaporated at very low temperatures. Seagate can guarantee the quality and integrity of this product, because they control the entire process. Seagate Shark Cartilage is 100% pure, contains no fillers or excipients, and after 20 years of continuous production continues to be the standard of highest quality in this product category.

Shark cartilage is way over hyped in my opinion. Someone wrote an article about sharks not getting cancer and attributed it to their cartilage. That started a whole new industry. Sharks have a very good immune system, having survived longer than most fish in the sea. That's why they don't get very much cancer.

Best remedy for your own body's cartilage is silica. Try diatomaceous Earth. Drink plenty of water to reduce dehydration and eliminate toxins, especially uric acid. Probiotics produce vitamin K which is also very helpful to joints.

There was a time when several fly-by-night companies were selling shark cartilage for arthritis as well as for cancers. Most of these products were complete garbage, however, it was the owner of the Seagate company that used a special process for shark cartilage, and developed a very good product. He has since expanded to many products, including olive leaf extract, carrot and broccoil powder, and my favourite... nopal cactus!

This company makes great products, and follows very strict guidelines when processing, which very few companies do, and I see the owner on "Know The Cause" every couple of months.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this company or any or their products.

I buy many product from Seagate for many years. I'm not saying anything against them. I feel the shark cartilage has nothing to offer humans, that we can't get from other sources. Save the poor sharks.

I am one for sparing the sharks, too. But I love love love their carrot/garlic product, their grape seed extract products - and I am finishing up olive leaf caps presently. I try to get as much as I can from food/diet - but sometimes it just isn't possible .

I tried the nopal cactus, too.
