It started late last night and the temps dropped down into the 20sF. Of course there\'s been much more snowfall in the mountain areas.

\nUp until now the days have been sunny and nice. For the last two days I\'ve been out in my yard, trimming some trees and cleaning up the last of the fallen leaves, and did it all in short sleeves. \r\n

\r\n \r\n New Mexico is windy. I\'ve been here for nine years. Wednesday and Thursday we had the worst wind/dust storm I have experienced thus far. There was so much dirt blowing in the air I could not see the valley below the edge of the mesa where I live. The day after the wind storm, it snowed all afternoon. Temps are ranging from about 28 degrees at night to 47 in the day, which is average for this time of year. Monday\'s forecast is for 6 degrees at night and 20 degrees during the day, which is really cold for this area at this time of year. We rarely hit the negative numbers, but last February we had a record breaking spate of nighttime negative numbers. It killed a lot of trees and plants, and many people not used to such conditions ended up with broken water pipes.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Audi, I feel for you. Really. Central Texas has been in an extreme drought too. It\'s been so bad that farmers were deprived water for any second crop they wanted to have. Water is controlled by the river authority. Then we had horrible fires, just like you have. Texas is typically dry and parched then flooding then dry and parched then flooding. We are getting some very much needed rain. About 3 inches in a week. Not much. Not enough to get us out of an extreme drought yet. I don\'t want to complain, but the gray days are getting depressing.

\nI recently watched a program about the Australian drought. Very interesting. They followed a kangaroo and how efficient they were with water. They seem to have incredible defenses to last for 10 years before danger of death. Also fascinating was how she was able to support her baby and also still have one in the pouch. The baby died though. The drought was just too much. I was surprised that kangaroos are such baby factories. No other animal can do what they do with procreation.

\nCedar fever has control of my life now. I live in a mountain cedar forest. The male trees are sometimes surrounded by their pollen. Looks like smoke or dense fog.
