Im suffering from Constipation because I drink bottel store juice, eat noodles, can soup and so on so. I drink 2 liters of water each day but Im not getting my fiber. So I thought I would go down and get a juicer and juice up some apples, celery, and carrots then take the juice and the palp and mix them together but Im not sure how to consume it. Maybe I could put it in a high speed blender. I always take my dog for her morning walk in Phoenix so I thought I could make this and use a food saver and have a pint of this before my morning walk and I should be able the make enough for 3 days. Do I need to put something else in this because Ive never did this before. Any advice?

I don't have a juicer, or make any homemade juices, but if you can use the whole fruit (skin, core, seeds) as shown with some juicers in their TV ads, it seems like you can get a lot of good fiber. Here's an older thread that might offer some thoughts...https://www.natmedtalk.com/nutrition/...ood-sugar.html

lostsoul62, you could also try a heaped desertspoonful of phsylium husks, in your juice, or sprinkled on your breakfast, if you have cereal, bu tmake sure you mix the phsylium husks well in your juice, as it sort of swells like a jell once mixed, it has no taste,so wont change the taste of your fruit juice.
some supermarkets here sell it in bulk or you can buy it in packets, some chemists sell it as Metamucil, but it is dearer that way.

I agree ozzie, I use psyllium husk fiber and it does work well for constipation by softening the stool and making elimination easier. However, there's also lots of nutritional benefits in using fruits and veggies for dietary fiber.
That's what happens when you get old, "I'm 64" and just plan forgot about Metamucil so the next time I go to Walmarts I'm going to pick some up.
Thanks

Hey lostsoul, 64's not THAT old, LOL! I'm not that far behind you (58). I use the Equate brand from Walmart, saves some money, and I actually think it tastes and work better, buy it all the time.

I can't stand psyllium husks. The thought makes me gag. It also makes many people have gas. I'd rather use one like Benefiber that is invisible in water or juice. If you are going to Wal-Mart, check out their own fiber that says it dissolves completely. It does not really dissolve, but you cannot tell it is even there.

I would rather just drink the smoothmove tea from traditional medicinals.... taste so much better!!!
But lostsoul, go back to the idea of juicing!!! So much better for you, not only will you get the fiber benefits, you will also get plenty of nutrition from it!!! I would suggest you start off with simple juices like apples and a carrot or two.... I like celery juice. And cucumber slices in my water is awesome, so maybe try to juice a cuke and see if you like that... Please dont just depend on the metamucil!!!! Stick with the idea of juicing!!!

Yesterday I bought a Jack la Lane juicer at Costcos and 10 pounds of the good carots, celery and now I have to go and buy my apples. I need to learn how to make a cole slaw from the palp.

Congratulations on your new juicer! Let us know how you like it. There was a simple recipe on the juicerlifetips site, basically...
3 cups cabbage pulp
1 + 1/2 cups carrot pulp
1 tablespoon vinegar
3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
parsley (optional)
Recipe = 4 + 1/2 cups of slaw (Health benefits, good for ulcers and cancer prevention)
Other uses for pulp were to use in soups, cakes, breads or a couple of spoons added to the dog's food.
I bought a juicer so I could break down the veggies and fruits then take the pulp and juice and put them into a hi-speed blender for a smoother drink instead of just blending so am I missing something? I figure I could put part of the pulp back with Metamucil and just experiment but with a juicer and hi-speed blender I figured I could drink the stuff more easily.

I don't think you can go wrong in whichever way you'd like to eat or drink the juice and pulp from the juicer. It's a personal preference, whatever you like best, good to experiment.
The one thing I would not recommend is mixing the pulp with Metamucil. I think the psyllium husk fiber HAS to be thoroughly mixed with and ingested with either plain water or juice. If Metamucil doesn't have adequate water to expand and be flushed through your system, it could cause more constipation and digestion problems.

Jack is a mentor of mine, and has a good line of juicers.
You need to add some more green stuff to your juice. Even though celery is a good choice, apples and carrots will make the juice too sweet. I would suggest adding cucumber, cabbage, and watermelon to your mix.
Green juices are high in magnesium, which is what you need to help you with your constipation.
You can save the pulp and use it to make soup.

My ex-wife who I’m living with and I spent an hour in the kitchen with the juicer and boy I can see why we are divorce but we are good friends. I wanted the Carrot, celery, and apple juice to drink in the morning before I walk out the door for my morning walk which is 2 or 3 miles and I figure I needed that type of juice but yes I will have to add the greens and get organize which I’m not but I guess it’s a learning curve. Oh yes my ex-wife is first generation Japanese and had no idea what we were doing in the kitchen and I think I was starting to agree with her. What a mess but it’s got to get better.
