Default mineral salt - any recommendations?

need to get some salt.. any recommendations for a good mineral salt? and why do you like it?

where do you buy your salt?

If it is "organic" sea salt, that is, no additions, no processing, I buy it anywhere. Usually a supermarket. I once tried the Lo Salt muck - never again. It was foul.
You specified "mineral" salt - what do you mean, exactly?

Redmond Salt comes from a salt mine near the Great Salt Lake. Lots of minerals in it. Not as salty taste as Mortons. Get it at the supermarket or Health Food Store.

I love the Redmond's Real salt. There is something about it that makes food taste better than other salts. I used to order it from the company but it is more readily available in stores now.

I'm also using the Real Salt product. Is it healthier than other natural salts? I don't know.

I mainly use it to salt my food (obviously) and as a salt-water mouthwash. For the latter use, it tends not to work as well as other forms of sea salt ... because there is a portion, presumably comprised of insoluble minerals, that remains at the bottom of my (mouthwash) cup.

Let us know what you try, ST, and what you think of your choice. So many exotic salts ... so little time.

I just mean salt that isn't refined so much that there are no minerals left. I especially try to look for salt that has some magnesium in it.

but.. I tried the himalayan salt.. which seems to be a scam (yes, there are hucksters in the alternative side of the marketplace).

I've tried celtic salt. sea salt.. although the sea salt I've seen looks awfully white. I think any salt with minerals isn't going to be pristine white.

I will have to look for the redmont salt. haven't notice that one in my area.

the black salt looks interesting.. but it would probably only be good for some dishes.

I think what I got a while ago, the salt that was high in magnesium was the French Celtic salt. The grey salt.

they also go into organic salts and what this means (basically, it is verification that the water isn't polluted).

more about salt.. with a chemical analysis below (scroll down a bit).

Celtic Salt
Magnesium: 5.2 mg per 1/4 tsp

and here is the mineral analysis of Redmond salt:

Magnesium: 937 ppm = .000937 * 1/4 tsp = .000937 * 1.5 gm = .0014 gm = 1.4 mg per 1/4 tsp


I think I will go with Celtic Sea Salt this time.. the magnesium looks good in it. although.. the redmond does seem to have a nice mix of minerals, too.

I buy mineral salts from pH miracle. I buy table salt "Real Salt" from the health food store.

Hi I know it is a hile ago on this thread but there is a new salt which is reduced in sodium and tastes good. It can be ground down in a salt mill.
