\nIt\'s icy here and been snowing lightly since yesterday in Colorado just a few inches so far. Last night was 8 degrees below zero, and today\'s high is around -2. Tonight they predict 17 below. My backyard is a definite slip and fall hazard, melted ice from the last snow under the new layer, and part of it is sloped.

\nWhen I was doing my sidewalk, the sun peeked through for a little bit. It was really pretty because the sun made the snow sparkle & the clouds going over were a lavender color. So get this, the mailman had marked on my mail one day last week, that my walkway wasn\'t \'cleared\' (there was maybe 4").... i shovel it when i get home from work if it\'s snowing. I\'m looking at the sparkles on the snow & notice his boot marks going through 3\' of snow several times, cutting across my front yard to my next door neighbor\'s mailbox. hahahaha He must be blond \r\n

\nAt first glance it looks like a graphic from a Discovery Channel programme about a distant ice age. But this astonishing picture shows the world as it is today - with half the Northern Hemisphere covered with snow and ice.

\nThe image was released by the National Oceanic And Atmospheric Association (NOAA) on the day half of North America was in the grip of a severe winter storm.

\nThe map was created using multiple satellites from government agencies and the US Air Force.

\nThat Antarctica, the Arctic, Greenland and the frozen wastes of Siberia are covered in white comes as no surprise. But it is the extent to which the line dips down over the Northern Hemisphere that is so remarkable about the image.
