I did read somewhere that the mercury dissipates relatively quickly, so old amalgam fillings shouldn't be worried about in that manner.
According to research and the following video, amalgam fillings leak mercury vapour forever.

Well, glad I don't have any of those.... But mercury vapor forever? Sounds like a long time.. Although if the filling ever cracked/chipped or whatever, I would think it wouldn't exactly be "forever" that it would be leaking.

I'm pretty sure it said coffee drinkers' study. Caffeinated coffee, not decaf.

A new study suggests caffeinated coffee drinkers should limit their intake to reduce their chances of developing vision loss or blindness.

Well caffeine is linked to raised blood pressure, which in extreme cases can lead to vision damage.

Again though, with these kinds of articles you read you need to know who is writing it and why.

They might have some other hidden agenda that you don't know about, or were getting a huge kickback from some other company to write the article

Exactly. Says 'caffeinated'. Too often these are caffeine studies with correlational data about caffeine, not coffee. If decaf isn't implicated, how can you blame the coffee?

This study comes to mind;

It's sort of like how they put a bad slant on Taurine, but then said that RedBull is perfectly all right to drink... Ummm... RedBull has Taurine in it....

So WTF people?

coffee.

I was just goofing around. Now they sound stoopit. Or written by someone that really should lay off the "fare" trade. (Should have been FAIR TRADE!) ug

Maybe there SHOULD BE a study!? Honest, I drink just two cups in the morning...I don't know where all this comes from. Iodine?

Could it be the strength of the brew? Too much caffeine? That's it. I blame overload of caffeine. But it helps me get the house clean real quick-like.

This thread took it's own course

My favorite part of the day is now waking up with a good cup of coffee. I guess I can never be without it - I just need to lower my sugar intake and I'm doing that. I use honey on occasion and that really works well for me.

Anyway, I've said it before - it's the quality of the bean, how long it's been after a roast, how you grind it, that makes a huge difference. I'm still looking for that perfect cup of coffee - one that you don't need ANY additives because it is not bitter or sour on it's own.

And I mean a lot of it. I really want to cut sugar out of my diet altogether because I know that is one of the reasons why I feel the way I do, day in and day out, but when I have my 3 cups of coffee, I load it with sugar. It's a vicious cycle for sure. Ingest coffee to wake up but you just end up needing more.

My wife suggested using honey instead, but I am reluctant because of the taste (I use a lot of non-dairy creamer too and can't imagine mixing the two).

Also I read here that you have to be careful what type of honey you buy. Can anyone provide more info on that? I will try to buy honey locally whenever I can as I do use it in my smoothies.

what about sugar alternatives?

How do you make your coffee? I suppose I could just try liking black coffee, but I want to hear more about what you all use for sugar alternatives and even creamers

Thanks in advance,

Live Healthy,
Chris
Firstly, non-dairy creamer? You might want to rethink THAT unless of course you are referring to something more plant-ish: coconut, soy (although unless it is organic and fermented, I stay away), HEMP, almond, that is GOOD! The other stuff? What is IN there, anyway?
(Here's some info: https://verylittleknownfacts.blogspot...hey-do-it.html)

I would DEF go with something like Hemp vanilla by Pacific. Go as REAL w/o many ingredients. NO CORN, either. Please. Corn is sugar, too *on top of your sugar. (I would like to know about the other natural flavors - I think I might contact them)

I try to buy a coffee that does SOMEONE some kind of good - which is why I go FAIR TRADE. I also with cocoa products and many other things as well. And of course - as cleanly grown as possible.

Then there is the WAY to brew the coffee. I worry about the plastic coffee maker made in china. I have found black "stuff" in the water reservoir. We only put WATER in that part of the maker. I have found black, what I think might be MOLD, in other parts of the drip maker. (Water is filtered free of chlorine, mercury and fluoride. I know for I had it tested--ran thru a Brita for taste)

(I use a glass pyrex percolator. Takes a little while longer - but I can SEE the coffee! I like it)

As I stated before, I buy organic Stevia from Now Foods. Yes, it seems co$tly, but it lasts quite a bit. There is NOTHING ELSE in there, too. Just stevia. Important to me. No fillers.

For my creamer it is organic half/half along with Tempt Vanilla Hemp milk. I want to eventually get off the cow altogether.
Might try goats milk - but it is soooo homogenized/pasteurized-I'd like to find raw.

The black bits are likely carbon particles from your Brita.

Even the pasteurized goat milk around here isn't homogenized.
