Default fruit and veg

I really do hate fruit and vegetables. I have seen that there are
supplements you can get that are full of bilberry and other fruit extracts that claim to be equivalent to 2.5 portions of fruit. it would save me a lot of messing around to take one each day. would this do the trick of the 2.5 portions a day?

I personally think you should try and get it from a diet first and then supplements.

You dislike fruits? I'm not sure I've ever met a person who dislikes all fruits before. I know a lot of people who dislike veggies, but surprise you dislike both since spinach and a banana taste nothing alike. Do you dislike sweet things as well?

A lot of people try to get everything from a pills like a friend of mine takes green tea pills. I personally think you should drink green tea instead of taking a pill, just like I think you should eat veggies and fruits, but if for some reason you you hate all fruits and veggies than a pill is really your only option. There are sooo many different fruits and vegetables.

YES am sure you are right... will be trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. It is not just about not liking them, it is also about being able to prepare and cook them or get them and store them etc. I love bananas, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, redcurrants, pineapple. Will be trying to eat them more but tinned is easier. But will also get a supplement which is vegetable/fruit extracts to make sure. Thanks.

Fruits and vegetables provide fiber which you don't get from a synthesized pill. Nor would a pill have all of the valuable nutrients.

Tinned pineapple has been heated which kills beneficial enzymes and other nutrients in the fruit. A ripe fresh pineapple is delicious. They are a bit of work, but the result is worth the effort. In order to eat healthy, one has to be willing to prepare food.

Yes I understand, thanks. Where I live I am not able to get to shops and have to rely on a delivery of food once a month so I tend to avoid vegetables and fruit as they dont last long and get tinned or leave them. I love cooking and preparing food.

I also have a hard time eating fruits every single day, so I started to make a smoothie. Most fruits like berries and bananas you can keep in the freezer. So most morning I make a smoothie and if it wasn't for that I'd probably not get fruit every single day.

I actually like grapes much better frozen.

I have no ideas on how to make veggies last longer, but sounds like you are very far from a city. Any chance of a farmers market or growing your own vegetables?

I'm not crazy about fruits and veggies either, but there's some that I like and buy when I can. I love berries, and when possible (and they're on sale) I'll buy plenty of fresh blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc. Many times I'll have bananas, kiwis and apples on hand.

I know what you mean, if fruits and veggies are not readily available. Except when I'm in the mood for salads, most of my vegetables are bought frozen. I also buy canned berries (Oregon brand) that are high in fiber and convenient, especially if traveling or camping out.

This looks like a good product from iHerb as a supplement, but seems pricey $50 for a 2 month supply, they also ship to the UK. https://www.iherb.com/Paradise-Herbs-...4-g/10731?at=0

hi there and thanks for the post - we dont have any shops or farmers markets near us, hence I have to go online and order from a supermariket that delivers. if necessary i would do this more often, but that means paying out for delivery charges more often. but it would work out cheaper to do that than to b uy expensive supplements - it is not posible for me to grow my own . it is interesting that you can freeze certain fruits though. i know you can freeze strawberries and rasp beries and love them - but they are too expensive - in the uk they are anyway -
blueberries etc are very very expensive for just a handful - i do like bananas and they are cheap here - it is oranges and apples etc i dont like . i used to like them but
now they have no taste and taste just watery and pulpy and then there is this problem of getting it.... i have started to drink fruit juice that is not concentrated and try to drink it on and off during the day. in the uk we are told to have at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day but in the uk you are told to take more. i am working on a new diet to help my health as up to now my diet has been awful ! very often no fruit or veg for ages. thanks for advice.

And I like this one which also comes in a berry flavor https://www.iherb.com/Greens-World-Delicious-Greens-8000-The-Original-10-6-oz-300-g-Powder/14057?at=0

I understand your problem as I live far from good stores also.. but I have found freezing to be the answer for fruits. Make a point to drive to the city at harvest time and purchase crates of fruit..bring it home and freeze it. I choose cherries .. (and you will need a cherry pitter tool) and huckleberries as they are most local here. Both freeze really well. Banana I never eat an consider them a worthless food.

You can also start to investigate what grows wild in your region. I have found huge amounts of lambs quarters in my region. I froze over 10 pounds of it this summer. If you don't have lambs quarters you could propagate it.. introduce it to your wild areas.. it requires absolutley no care or put it in your garden beds. The less water it gets the better it does. Asparagus also grows wild in some places.. it could be propagated around creeks and irrigation ditches. We have lots of it here all put in by Mormon settlers over 100 years ago. Its the gift that keeps on giving.

Then you could plant an apple tree. They can grow in even the coldest climates, as well as some varieties of cherry.

Many greens can be grown in trays inside by a window or create a small garden near your kitchen.

The problem with not eating fruits is they also have enzymes and fiber. I am not a fan of raw veggies, but I love cooked veggies.
