I have been suffering with acid reflux on and off for about 9 years. For the last couple of years it has mostly been on. For the last six months I have basically given up on trying to control it and have let it be. I burp a lot, get acid in my mouth, have a sore throat when I get up in the morning. About four months ago I started getting tightness in my sinuss that seemed to occur after eating. That got worse and started to make me feel dizzy and affected my ability to focus. Another new issue is a pain right below my ribcage where the abdominal muscle meets the chest. Its the muscle that hurts and Ive read that stomach muscle spasms are common with reflux. \n \nI have noticed that when I go on vacation the reflux seems to disappear. I went to Arizona a few years ago and I actually enjoyed a cup of coffee each morning I was there, and I can never drink coffee! But the carefree life style I enjoy on vacation doesnt exist at home. I run a home based business that is pretty stressful. I just got married, which is great, but planning the wedding and everything was super stressful. \n \nNote: I have been to doctors and have had an endoscopy done. Basically they saw some scarring and told me that the reflux wouldnt kill me. Everytime I talk to the them they point me to antacids. I have taken them all and paxil 24 hour works well. 2 problems though. 1. I dont want to be on meds the rest of my life. 2. I get a really bad heart arrhythmia when taking proton pump inhibitors. \n \nSo a few weeks ago I decided to try conquer this problem. The dizziness especially was really affecting my ability to work. I tweaked my diet to incorporate more fruits and veggies and less fatty/processed foods. I tried to drink less (Im a big micro-beer lover). I cut tea out completely. I started to eat more cabbage as it has helped in the past. I also started drinking aloe juice, which has also helped me in the past. I did this for a few weeks and didnt notice any huge improvement. I started going online and reading more to find an answer. \n \nI found that magnesium had helped some people so I started taking that. 200m twice a day. It didnt help my reflux, but Im sure I was deficient in magnesium before as I have a lot more energy than I did before. I love that. \n \nI then remembered that back in college I took an enzyme supplement when I ate and that used to help. So I took one with dinner about a week ago. I told my wife that night before bed that something was funny. I couldnt figure it out, but something in my stomach and my throat felt different. The next morning I had no pain in my throat. This hadnt happened in years. I had breakfast and took another enzyme pill and I didnt have my usual heartburn and it was harder to burp. For whatever reason the pill got my stomach to shut and I was on cloud nine! The next day I wanted to test it and I ate pizza, usually a huge no no for my stomach. I felt great, I had no heartburn, and no pain at all. I didnt burp. And the best part of all, no lightheadedness. I thought I had my life back. \n \nWell, sadly it didnt last... I think I may fall into depression. Slowly my stomach has fallen back in to the mess it was in weeks ago. I am still taking the enzymes with each meal and the magnesium. Keeping up with my diet, and eating cabbage and drinking aloe juice. Today Im especially bummed as I have really been lightheaded. I cant figure out how the enzymes worked so well for 4 days and now they dont seem to do anything. \n \nI just wanted to see if anybody here had any similar experiences and had any advice/help for me. The key is to get my stomach to shut after eating. I know it can, it did it perfectly last week. Im going to try and sprinkle the enzymes on my dinner tonight, instead of taking the capsule. I hope it works.\r\n | \r\n

One friend has is so bad that he has to leave the table and walk around a bit. He\'s obviously in pain. \n \nTry d-limonene. Very natural. Here\'s why. https://www.dirtdoctor.com/organic/ga...search/id/113/ \n \nAvoid peppermint tea. It relaxes the upper sphincter of the stomach. \n \nDigestive bitters will cut down on fermentation in the stomach. That\'s only one of the remarkable things about digestive bitters. And you only have to have a small taste, not the amount suggested on the bottles. If you want to feed two birds with one crumb, get some andrographis. Andrographis is the king of the bitters. Just hold one tablet in your mouth for less than a minute before swallowing right before your meal. Hold it too long and you\'ll never get the taste out through your whole meal. Andrographis is mostly used for cold, flu, and sinusitis care. Digestive problems, cardiovascular, and anti-tumor. https://www.herbsarespecial.com.au/is...f-bitters.html It is important to use a lot of water during the day while taking bitters, because they do have a tendency to cleanse the liver however gradually to wash out the toxins. \n \nI suspect you have lack of stomach acid, which is most likely due to the use of antacids or other things like that which the doctors tend to give you. Digestive bitters will help that situation. You need the acid to control the growth of yeast. Most all minerals, including magnesium and zinc, require stomach acid for the body to be able to absorb them properly, or they will just be unused. The same is true for vitamin B12. The B vitamins will help improve your stomach acid. \n \nWhen food is not digested properly, it will just sit and ferment. This causes the production of carbon dioxide gas. The gas produces pressure on the sphincter muscle causing your reflux and pain. \n \nTrimethylglycine (TMG) can also be used to increase stomach acid formation. TMG is a strong methyl donor. Methylation is required for the production of many substances in the body including stomach acid, neurotransmitters, hormones, etc. \n \nYou are much too young to have to worry about stomach acid. This declines when you reach about 40. But something must be happening to cause this situation in you. I suspect something is happening to cause your enzymes to be weakened. Truly, try digestive bitters. Take only half of what is recommended on the bottle. The point is that the back of your tongue, where bitter receptors lie, only has to taste the bitter. The point is not to just swallow these things. Taste. This stimulates the vagus nerve, which will activate numerous health processes in your body immediately. This is not something that takes time to build up in your body. You will know if bitters will work for you nearly immediately. \n \nHope this helps.\r\n \r\n __________________ \r\n <!-' + '- / sig -' + '->\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n <!-' + '- message, attachments, sig -' + '->\r\n\r\n \r\n - \n- Jim \nLife is just one damned thing after another - Elbert Hubbard \n \n\r\n | \r\n

Purified d-limonene: an effective agent for the relief of occasional symptoms of heartburn. Proprietary study. WRC Laboratories, Inc. Galveston, TX. \n \nupon further looking LEF says the study is yet unpublished yet they had access to it somehow: \n \nFrom Life Extension Foundation: \n \nA Natural Solution \n \nA chemist from Texas suffered painful symptoms of GERD for years and did not like the idea of taking a proton-pump inhibitor drug on a chronic basis. He looked at d-limonene, an extract from the orange peel, as a long-term approach to controlling GERD symptoms. Based on both anecdotal and as yet unpublished clinical research studies, the intake of just one 1000-mg capsule of this purified d-limonene every other day for 20 days has been shown to reduce or eliminate GERD symptoms in most people for six months or longer. \n \nThere is no clearly established mechanism by which d-limonene is so effective. Researchers, however, have speculated that d-limonene works in several ways to eliminate GERD-related pain. Since d-limonene is lighter than water, it floats to the surface of gastric juices in the stomach. \n \nJoe S. Wilkins, the Houston-area scientist who developed this natural approach to heartburn relief, believes that the minor burping that occurs with d-limonene causes this orange peel extract to be directly carried into the esophagus. By coating the esophagus, d-limonene may protect the esophagus against caustic contents that would have otherwise been regurgitated from the stomach. D-limonene may promote quicker movement of food and gastric juices out of the stomach so that these esophageal irritants do not promote as much reflux. \nD-limonene may also provide a barrier in the stomach and esophagus against bacterial infection. It is well established that stomach cancer risk is increased in those infected with the H. pylori bacteria. Finally, d-limonene may reduce the amount of gastric juices that reflux (regurgitates) back into the esophagus. \n \nAll of these mechanisms help explain why so many heartburn sufferers find long-term relief by taking just one 1000-mg capsule of d-limonene every other day for only 20 days.\r\n | \r\n

I never used it and I don\'t personally know anyone who has. Did you look around curezone for a d limonone discussion? \n \nOften reflux is due to a pathogen so I could understand how it might work. There are studies that show it has antimicrobial effect. \n \nHave you ruled out hiatial hernia?\r\n | \r\n

Had reflux, then fixed it, and now its back...
Hello,
This is my first time on here and I hope you all are nice to me :-) Im a 29 year old male. I have noticed that when I go on vacation the reflux seems to disappear. Note: I have been to doctors and have had an endoscopy done. So a few weeks ago I decided to try conquer this problem. I found that magnesium had helped some people so I started taking that. 200m twice a day. It didnt help my reflux, but Im sure I was deficient in magnesium before as I have a lot more energy than I did before. I love that. I then remembered that back in college I took an enzyme supplement when I ate and that used to help. Well, sadly it didnt last... I just wanted to see if anybody here had any similar experiences and had any advice/help for me. The key is to get my stomach to shut after eating. I know it can, it did it perfectly last week. Im going to try and sprinkle the enzymes on my dinner tonight, instead of taking the capsule. I hope it works. |
