\n Low density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol, is the type that may form arterial plaque when it is oxidized, a process similar to metal rusting. High density lipoprotein (HDL) has always been considered the “good” cholesterol, acting as a tow truck to bring LDL back to the liver for processing. However, research published last year in The Lancet found that people with naturally higher HDL levels have no less heart disease than those with slightly lower levels; researchers are debating what this means in terms of how “good” HDL really is. \nFirst, there is no good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, there is just cholesterol... and the so-called good cholesterol isn\'t transported back to the liver for processing...it is brought back to the liver to be recycled/reused.

\nCholesterol is a very complex molecule, and is much easier for the body to recycle it than manufacture it.

\nThere may be an issue with size and/or oxidizing, however, cholesterol and triglycerides are merely warnings, and do not directly cause disease.

\nThe Lancet should have reported that people with low cholesterol have more heart attacks and strokes than people with high cholesterol, and if they were totally honest, they would state that high cholesterol was invented by the drug industry so they could profit by selling statins... however, I doubt this will happen anytime soon.\r\n
