I think you over estimate the power of a tactical nuclear device. A tactical nuke (also known as a suitcase nuke) wouldn't really have the energy to create a Tsunami.. The amount of energy that is needed to create a Tsunami is absolutely phenomenal...

I mean, sure, you would make a splash.. But please note they have tested 100 megaton nuclear devices in the middle of the Pacific ocean and there weren't any resulting Tsunamis.. So.. That should be an indication right there...

But yes, who knows if the reporting done by either side was accurate... Records weren't really being kept all that well back then either.. Secrets were flowing like water, corruption, and of course the whole political game of "my balls are bigger than yours because i got more bombs" thing going on which could have all been BS...
