[Combined treatment of chronic prostatitis with sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim and hachimi-ji-oh-gan].

Abstract
Treatment of chronic prostatitis is difficult and many antimicrobial drugs have been tried. Although these drugs showed good permeability into prostatic fluid in experimental studies, they have limited value in clinical use and development of more effective drugs has been anticipated. A study was performed on the effect of Hachimi-ji-ji-oh-gan, a traditional Chinese medicine, for the treatment of chronic prostatitis. Symptoms were improved in 53% of the patients treated with sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim alone for two weeks and in 84% of those treated with Hachimi-ji-oh-gan in addition to sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim for two weeks. Since Hachimi-ji-oh-gan has no antimicrobial effect, the drug may change the characteristics of the prostatic tissue or prostatic fluid providing a favorable condition for antimicrobial agents to penetrate into the prostatic fluid. Further examination is necessary to disclose the machanism of Hachimi-ji-oh-gan on the effect of prostatitis.

I was taking 10 capsules of allicin a day (but you prob only need around 4-6 a day spread by taking 2 at a time). I was taking 200mg of trim twice a day.
Heres a simple and fairly cheap regimen;
- Now Quercetin + bromelain 2 capsules 3 times a day on an empty stomach
- Trimethoprim 200mg twice a day
- Allicin 2 capsules 3 times per day with the quercetin
(if anyone here responds to doxycycline you could try doxy first, followed by trim)
Theoretical reasons for using two antibiotics would be: Normalisation of the prostate pH by controlling infection with doxy to reach higher levels of trimethoprim later on. Also wiping out any resistant organisms that doxy is not killing. One issue might be that with prostatitis there are various organisms, and it's a situation where you kill off one colony that are fairly easy, but dont kill of the persisters... and they start growing when antibiotic is stopped. But the other antibiotic might get the persister cells. Just an idea... It isn't that uncommon to cycle antibiotics in chronic infections.
Don't neglect to focus on stretching and relaxing your pelvic muscles too.

So he's given you long term suppressive therapy. Could work... though I would have asked for at least a 2-4 weeks full dose of 400mg per day then maybe lowering the dose to 100mg per day. I was on 100mg per day for a long time, it worked really well to suppress symptoms so I could lead a normal life Maybe with the other things it could be enough to cure the infection. I don't know...
what symptoms are getting better for you so far?

You can tell when an antibiotic is working I have had that many lol.The allicin seems to be working with it also things seem to get better at times but then it flares up again I take a dose and then it calms it down.
I have doubled the dose to 100mg twice a day I cant see him giving that much I will try see what happens.
Did you do any massage therapy at all?

No I didn't... I found that using a hot water bottle and holding it against the perinium helped a lot. :-) You can buy them real cheap.... just wrap something around it like a tea cloth if it's too hot. Trust me it helps a LOT!!! lol. Much easier than taking a bath... ;p you can hold it there while sitting/laying down o the couch or whatever.
what are you taking? Just the allicin and trim?

The quercetin and the bromelain will help the prostate drain. You might notice a spike in symptoms for a few days followed by yellow semen as this happens.

Your symptoms sound identical to mine. I have never had a discharge or pain in the rectum. I have had pain in the same area's as you. I have discomfort in my stomach/bowels and think this may be related. I have the drip drip too. What has your diet been like leading up to this?
I am going to do a humaworm and humacleanse and maybe a colonic.
