And listen, during the time I was being treated I had an overgrowth of candida on the head of the penis. Thrush. Yet my symptoms were still going away. It's NOT the cause of the majority of cases. If you have a functioning immune system. Don't worry! Candida has a short lifespan, levels go up and down. Once off antibiotics the thrush always disappeared rapidly for me anyway.
Many fear antibiotics here because they have devastated their lives and took many years to climb out of the candida hole. You are very optimistic. I hope your good luck continues because I would not want to wish a severe candida condition, or a C-diff condition, or a MRSA condition on anyone... all resultant from the use of antibiotics or contamination ... it is all caused by the over use of antibiotics and you certainly are falling into that category. Beware. Also, candida can cause cancer. Be viligent on your supplementation program and use the highest quality of supplements, especially in the probiotic arena along with prebiotics.

Hi folks
Just an update on things.
My pelvis pain has all gone. The pain from the inside of my thighs has gone.
Still got urgency .When I take treatments it seems to be burning in my prostate mainly.I am not sure if it will do the last push and get rid of it.
I am also going hot and cold and getting a bit sweaty a bit like flu symptoms.
Treatments are
10 allicin max a day.
bromelian three times a day
Quercetin twice a day.
200mg trimethroprim twice a day.
Vitamin d9 (fish oil)
Probiotic yougarts.

You might try pollen extract (not bee pollen) for the urgency. But hold off on that for now and see how things go as the weeks go on. Usually the slow urination, frequency and urgency will take longer to go away as the prostate shrinks and the inflammation settles. >3 months

Excellent! This is exactly the response you want. It should last a few weeks, and semen MIGHT turn yellow. This also disappears in a few weeks (around 4).

Hope you continue to improve!

You should add L-arginine. Take 3g per day split into 3 doses on an empty stomach.

Thanks for replies again.
I also got a 7 days course of Metranizadol but he wanted to see a culture from my prostatic fluid before I take that.
I managed to get another 100 100mg of trim of him if I take 400mg a day that I have got enough for nearly two months.
Iwillbecured do you have any evidence of taking 400mg of trim a day for long term treatment?I know its right but I need to convince my gp with evidence.
Nice to see that this thread has kept going.
I just wanted to add that I ejaculate and do a five minute massage straight after every day about 30 minutes after I take my evening abx.I manage to drain fliud every time and I think its a must.

everybody welcome to give their opinion hoping iwillbecured responds to this to...

he had taken trimethoprim which is usually combined with another antibiotic called sulfamethoxazoletogether they are known as bactrim .

so my question is this. if trimethoprim is combined with sulfa. can it be combined with other antibiotics ? or if combined with other antibiotics will the trim and the other antibiotic cancel each other out or make one not work ?

example can you take a 100 mg trime and say 500 mg cipro together and get a double effect going like sulfa and trim or will one cancel the other out.

could you take 100 mg trim with 100 mg doxy or 100 mg trim with 400 mg norfloxacin or 100 mg trim with 500 mg ceftin etc etc

it would be interesting to know which antibiotics you can take together or stack. I know in hospitals for bacterial prostatitis they will give you
gentamicin and a cephalosporin
or ampicillin and a cephalosporin

I wanna relate this I shared iwillbecured story with my uro just told him i read about a guy somewhere on the internet who had prostatitis for 5 years and he cured his prostatitis with 5-6 months of trimethoprim.

the uro reply was that is to many antibiotics he should have just lived with it. I reply but he cured himself where you doctors failed. his reply is it does not matter if he cured himself that is to many antibiotics he should have just lived with it.

In other words we should all set here and suffer and die before rather than take antibiotics for very long that could cure us........

that makes as much sense to me as a man dying from an infection in the hospital bed
dying from one. and the doctor gives him some antibiotics and it just starts to work and the doctor
orders the IV pulled out and tells him sorry you have had enough antibiotic, youll have to live
with the pain sir ..wish i was a urologist I'd put all those b&stards out of business. my life goal would be to cure
instead of screw people over

I just wanted to say not everbody is going to get cured with trimethroprim. You need the right one for your infection.
I had trim in 1997 intravenously for two weeks it cleared it but it was to deep in my prostate.
Also I was not taking other things along with it to help it get deeper into the infection.
Its just not about the abx its everything combined.

I haven't heard of metronidazole being used before for chronic prostatitis. :/ I recommend everyone read this; Penetration of antibiotics into the prostate
https://home.swipnet.se/isop/Penetration.pdf

Withdrawing from treatment before all the infection has gone probably happens a lot as well. 12 weeks is a guideline, it could take 4 months or 6 months. As you see below, L arginine helps speed up healing. This is just another good reason why you should take it while you're treating prostatitis

I came on here to post this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arginine
Arginine plays an important role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function, and the release of hormones.[2][7][8] Arginine taken in combination with proanthocyanidins[9] or yohimbine,[10] has also been used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
The benefits and functions attributed to oral supplementation of L-arginine include:
Men here with erection problems should read this below:

Treatment of erectile dysfunction with pycnogenol and L-arginine.

Stanislavov R, Nikolova V.
Abstract

Penile erection requires the relaxation of the cavernous smooth muscle, which is triggered by nitric oxide (NO). We investigated the possibility of overcoming erectile dysfunction (ED) by increasing the amounts of endogenous NO. For this purpose, we orally administered Pycnogenol, because it is known to increase production of NO by nitric oxide syntase together with L-arginine as substrate for this enzyme. The study included 40 men, aged 25-45 years, without confirmed organic erectile dysfunction. Throughout the 3-month trial period, patients received 3 ampoules Sargenor a day, a drinkable solution of the dipeptide arginyl aspartate (equivalent to 1.7 g L-arginine per day). During the second month, patients were additionally supplemented with 40 mg Pycnogenol two times per day; during the third month, the daily dosage was increased to three 40-mg Pycnogenol tablets. We obtained a sexual function questionnaire and a sexual activity diary from each patient. After 1 month of treatment with L-arginine, a statistically nonsignificant number of 2 patients (5%) experienced a normal erection. Treatment with a combination of L-arginine and Pycnogenol for the following month increased the number of men with restored sexual ability to 80%. Finally, after the third month of treatment, 92.5% of the men experienced a normal erection. We conclude that oral administration of L-arginine in combination with Pycnogenol causes a significant improvement in sexual function in men with ED without any side effects.

Other supplements or drinks ike green tea / white tea, quercetin, resveratrol, blueberry, among others, could probably replace that very expensive Pycnogenol supplement.

Default Help needed

maybe you guys can offer some advice

I get acute prostatitis take cipro 7 days it goes bye bye...when it returns i take again 7 days it did not work...

prostatitis goes chronic

i try cipro again later, for 4 weeks it does nothing

at one point when my prostatitis got worse i was having erection trouble, burning ejaculation , pelvic pain , stabbing sensation shooting through head of penis and urinating on myself , and felt like i was pissing razor blades...

I believe the pissing pains , stabbing penis pain and pelvic pain was the prostatitis moving into the bladder. because many years ago i had a bladder infection and it gave me stabbing pelvic pains, stabbing penis pains pissing on myself and felt like pissing razor blades so I believe the prostatitis moved into the bladder infecting it

I never went to a doctor for this at that time. I obtained cipro without a prescription through a friend. so anyways ....

I start taking cipro and on the 10th day the burning piss ,pelvic pain and stabbing penis pain are gone. but im still left with the prostatitis and the prostate stuff still stayed around.... but it had to be the prostatitis moving into the bladder causing this.....

so I'm up in arms here after reading about iwillbecure taking an antibiotic that he took for way way longer than you're supposed to take. so I'm wondering is it that the ciprofloxacin can kill my prostatitis but 4 weeks is just not enough for it and I should take 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 months worth

had luck with one antibiotic in the beginning cephalexin it started working on prostatitis in 4 days I had my erection back and full orgasmic feeling .only managed to stay on it 19 days....long story short had to get off of it for a while because bad tooth was hurting right ear and cephalexin was making ear worse.wish i had gotten the tooth out to begin with but was afraid never being to the dentist before. finally decide to get it pulled as it gets even worse it took dentist maybe 1 or 2 minutes and the tooth was out..if i'd known it would be so painless to get that tooth out id got it out long time ago....

. later on I tried taking it again not very long only 14 days this last time and it did not have the effect again so i stop taking it altogether....at least i dont have that ear pain anymore....

so now im kinda lost can some of you guys give me advice.... do you think the antibiotics i once had luck with. if i took for many many months would start working again ?
has the prostatitis completely became immune to these drugs altogether or is their a partial immunity and it would just take many long months for it to start working ???

see that is the thing there is no research on anything like this taking an antibiotic for 4 ,6 ,7 months etc..
only research is infection found, cultured and highly effective antibiotic given for 4-12 weeks...so what iwillbecure has come up with is very different..so im kind of scratching my head thinking could it be that maybe the prostaitis is not immune to every drug underneath the sun could it really but that many drugs can kill it but they must be taken for many many many months to get the job done ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again and you guys know I'm right..us sufferers get this prostatitis more than even most of the expert urologists get this....the reason is we constantly read and study about our disease
where as the urologist probably the last time he picked up a book or read about prostatitis was back 10 or 15 years ago when he was in med school. so i say our knowledge far exceeds that of most doctors.

I tried to tell him it made me feel alot better killed most of my symtoms its been two or three weeks since I completed the Metranizadol and I still feel better but not cured I will contact him and try and convince him to give me a longer stronger dose

My Story is kinda similar to Harrycrumb.8 months ago i had excrutiating spasms from acute prostatatis then it spread to my urinary tract.
I took Cipro for 20 days which tookcare of the UTI and painfull spasms and then all hell broke loose from the cipro. I was "floxed' bad.
My prostate issues was secondary to all the crap that was going on from the cipro.
Anyways 8 months later im finally at a point where i'm well enough to start tackling my prostate issues. I have all the common symptoms you guys describe.Im making a appt with my dr to discuss my options,i know she will push the antibiotics on me and of course i'm scared of them now.
Ive seen another dr and when i mention Doxy and Trim ,they say they wont work and insist on a quinilone or bactrim. Quinilones are out as i probably wouldnt recover from another round and im hesistant on the bactrim cause it made me all tingly last time i took it for UTI 4 years ago. Should i insist on trying Trim or Doxy? Should i demand some cultures or ask to see urologist? Im in Canada and our free healthcare sucks when you dont have typical problems.

Michael
P.S Harry ,Dont take cipro for 6 months ,eventually you will have an adverse reaction to it and it can be life destroying . I still have plenty of side effects which will take years to resolve if im lucky. Most doctors are ignorant of the brutal reactions to quinilones and dont think "ive taken it before with no problems", most of us have.
